Teething Baby Mouth Spa Blog

Teething is the process by which baby teeth start to emerge through the gum into the mouth. Your baby was born with all 20 baby teeth below the gum line. They typically start to come through between 6 and 12 months. Children usually have their full set of baby teeth in place at age 3.

Symptoms of Teething

  • Fussiness
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Irritability
  • Loss of appetite
  • Drooling
  • Cries easily

Mother should take note that fever, diarrhea and rash are not associated with teething.

What to do when your baby starts to teeth

  • When your baby starts teething, you will notice your baby’s hand in the mouth, he/she is just trying to set some relief as the gums tend to be itchy.
  • You can also massage the gums by gently rubbing them with your clean finger. Just make sure whatever your baby is chewing on is clean and safe.
  • Stay away from over the counter teething gels and liquids that have the ingredient benzocaine. It can cause serious side effects.
  • Care should be taken when using teething necklace because this can strangle the baby or suffocate the baby if accidentally swallowed.
  • If you notice the child is continually cranky with a fever visit the pediatrician. If you have any questions about how to relieve your child’s teething, talk to your dentist.

Do not forget that babies and toddlers also need to see the dentist. Check your baby’s mouth and teeth regularly and visit your dentist (Mouth Spa Dental Clinic) when you notice anything out of the ordinary.
